No annals of Indian history and Social Reform is complete without a mention of Lok Nayak Bharat Ratna Sri Jayaprakash Narayan. A stalwart leader of the Quit India Movement and the Indian Independence struggle. Remembered for his leading role in the resistance efforts against the Emergency, Shri Narayan (popularly known as JP) was conferred with the highest civilian honour in India - the Bharat Ratna - in the year 1999. He was also honoured with the prestigious Magsaysay Award for Public Service in the year 1965. He was a true visionary and one of the founding fathers of Modern Indian Socialism, reforming Class and Caste barriers in Indian Society and leading the revolution against unlawful internment, a true Lok Nayak in every sense of the word.
To commemorate such an illustrious personality, the Government of Uttar Pradesh collaborated with top architects, stakeholders etc and Shalimar Corp - in our capacity as the topmost construction company in Lucknow and one of the leading Real Estate Developers in India - rushed to the call to construct one of the most pristine, huge and eye-catching structures on the Lucknow skyline, the Jayaprakash Narayan International Convention Center, otherwise known as the JPNIC.
Modeled on the lines of New Delhi's popular 'India Habitat Center', the international convention center offers a plethora of facilities such as auditoriums, convention halls, restaurants, hotel rooms to various institutions under one roof. It is the tallest building dotting the Lucknow skyline currently, complete with a helipad on its roof that may be used by dignitaries and high corporate players to land directly onto the center.
The facility contains 4 Major blocks:
This block is a testament to the memory of Shri Jai Prakash Narayan, the renowned political and social reformer, on whom the Government of India conferred the Bharat Ratna Posthumously. The museum block contains a spacious and serene Reading Room, a well-stocked Library. The Jai Prakash Narayan Museum contains his memorabilia and commemorates his ideology, while a huge Open Air Amphitheater is in place to host small-scale cultural events and art performances.
The Hotel block offers 107 rooms, 10 dormitories and 7 suites to the visitors. The visitors enter the block through a beautifully designed Entrance Lobby. Facilities such as a gymnasium, a Salon and Spa are also part of this block. Five large restaurants including a rooftop restaurant cater to the Culinary requirements of the visitors. The Authorities selected the US chain 'Choice Group of Hotels' to operate the Hotel, Sports and Museum blocks of JPNIC.
Probably the largest block of the center, the Convention and Sports center houses the magnificent convention hall that can seat up to 2000 people, and is capable of partitioning into three separate sections, if required. Apart from this, the block houses a Tennis court with its stadium, a Badminton court with its stadium, a Multipurpose court with stands, a Conference hall with the capacity to hold up to 1000 people and a Seminar hall capable of seating 100 people.
Adjoined with the multipurpose sports complex, the Aquatic block is home to various Water-Based sports and recreational facilities within the complex. It houses a Swimming Pool and a Diving Pool, both Olympic sized and qualifying international standards.
The JPNIC structure promises a class of hospitality and Sports facilities Lucknow had never experienced before until now, a complete Convention, Cultural, Sports and Recreational facility that may be used to hold functions, sports meets and act as a club for anybody who wants to join.
